If you have a smart thermostat, you can help reduce power costs for all cooperative members and Beat the Peak by enrolling in the Smart Thermostat Program.
How does the program work? Fairfield Electric will sync with your thermostat to make small automatic adjustments during peak times. Before a peak occurs, Fairfield Electric will pre-cool or pre-heat your house, so you stay comfortable while your HVAC system saves energy.
These adjustments typically occur on cold winter mornings and hot summer afternoons when electricity costs and demand are at their highest. By adjusting thermostats, your cooperative can lower peak demand, helping keep wholesale power costs stable.
In the winter, peak demand periods typically occur between 6 and 9 a.m. In the summer, peak demand events typically occur between 3 and 7 p.m.
You can opt out of peak-demand events by clicking the opt-out button in your thermostat app or on the thermostat.
Eligible thermostat brands include Amazon, Copeland, Ecobee, Emerson, and Honeywell, with more brands coming soon.
Participants receive a $50 bill credit when they enroll, and $50 bill credits at the end of the first year and at the end of each year thereafter. To receive the annual credit, the participant must participate in more than 60% of events during the 12-month period.
To qualify for the Smart Thermostat Program, the service location must be served by Fairfield Electric Cooperative, and you must have Wi-Fi in your home.
