10 high school seniors were each awarded a $1000 Touchstone Energy scholarship by Fairfield Electric Cooperative, Inc. Emma Atkinson, Kellee Craig, Rachael Darmer, Cooper Hicks, Ashleigh Hill, Eva Hoagland, Kelsey Phillips, Joel Stephens, Trevon Williams, and D’Niyah Young were selected after an extensive application and interview process.
Atkinson, Darmer, Hicks, Hoagland, Phillips, and Stephens are all students from Lugoff-Elgin High School. Atkinson will attend Charleston Southern University in the fall. She plans to study Family and Children’s Ministry. Darmer will pursue a Forensic Science degree at Western Carolina University. Hicks will study Marketing at Anderson University. Hoagland is headed to Clemson University where she will study Political Science with a Pre-law track. In the fall, Phillips will enroll at the University of South Carolina and study Nursing. Stephens will attend Lander University and major in Middle Level Education Mathematics. Craig is a senior at Cardinal Newman School. She is set to attend Virginia State University in the fall and will major in Biology. Hill and Young are both seniors at Fairfield Central High School. Young will pursue a degree in Accounting at the University of South Carolina and Hill will major in Nursing. Williams, a student at Blythewood High School, will attend South Carolina State University where he will major in Exercise Science.
Fairfield Electric Cooperative’s Touchstone Scholarship is available each year to students whose primary residence is served by the Cooperative. Students are selected based on their scholastic record, community involvement and extra-curricular activities. Touchstone Energy is a nationwide alliance of independent, consumer-owned co-ops.
