Fairfield Electric Cooperative Names 2021 Touchstone Energy Scholarship Recipients

Six high school seniors were each awarded a $1000 Touchstone Energy scholarship by Fairfield Electric Cooperative, Inc. Sarah Doster, Gerald Edmunds, Jr., Angela Fang, Princess James, Ashanti Shepard, and Sadera Sims were selected after an extensive application and interview process.


Sarah Doster is a student at Chester Senior High School. In the fall she plans to enroll at Clemson University and major in Biological Sciences. Gerald Edmunds, Jr. attends Fairfield Central High School. He will study engineering at Claflin University. Angela Fang and Ashanti Shepard are both students at Lugoff-Elgin High School. Fang plans to study International Studies at The University of South Carolina or Grinnell College. Shepard will attend the University of South Carolina and major in Nursing. Rounding out the scholarship winners are Princess James and Sadera Sims of Ridge View High School. Both James and Sims plan to continue their education in the fall at Coastal Carolina University. James will study Accounting with a Certified Public Accounting concentration and Sims will major in Public Health with a concentration in Pre-Health Professions.


Fairfield Electric Cooperative’s Touchstone Scholarship is available each year to students whose primary residence is served by the Cooperative. Students are selected based on their scholastic record, community involvement and extra-curricular activities. Touchstone Energy is a nationwide alliance of independent, consumer-owned co-ops. Fairfield Electric and the other Touchstone Energy Cooperatives share the values of commitment to community, integrity, accountability, and innovation.
