Who We Are
Fairfield Electric Cooperative, Inc. (FEC) is a not-for-profit electric distribution cooperative with offices in Blythewood and Winnsboro South Carolina.
The Cooperative serves more than 27,000 customers in Fairfield, Kershaw, Richland, Chester, and York counties. Fairfield Electric is one of twenty electric cooperatives in South Carolina. Together these cooperatives serve more than 500,000 members in over 70% of our state.
Our mission is to provide quality electric services at competitive costs with commitment to customer satisfaction.
This mission provides the foundation for everything we do, from ensuring system reliability to offering programs to help our members increase energy efficiency in the home. But we carry this mission beyond the boundaries of our own business, for we believe that to truly serve our customers, we must also serve our community.
Because we're a locally owned business, our operation isn't influenced by stockholders or out-of-state interests. In fact, the people who influence our business decisions are the people we serve --- our member-owners.
At annual meetings, our members elect our Board of Trustees, the governing body of our cooperative. We also return excess funds to our members as Capital Credits, one of the many benefits of ownership for which cooperatives like ours are highly regarded.
2014 marked the 75th anniversary of Fairfield Electric Cooperative. Members share their thoughts on receiving electricity for the first time and a summary of the cooperative's current activities are featured in the 75th Anniversary Video.
